A daily-wage worker of the Forest Department collapsed and died inside the office while on night duty at BC Road here on November 29.
The deceased identified as Jayarama Moolya (47), a resident of Veerakamba, had been working as a daily-wage employee for the Forest Department for nearly 30 years.
Jayarama was on night duty on November 29. He had reportedly complained of dizziness to his coworkers earlier in the evening.
Later, he locked the main door and went to rest in the office. It is suspected that he suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while attempting to lie down, collapsing onto the table.
When the department’s driver arrived the next day at around 6:30 AM, he noticed the office door was still locked and opened a window. He saw Jayarama lying on the table and thus broke open the door and went inside but Jayarama had already passed away.
Jayarama is survived by his mother, two brothers, and a sister.
