Bantwal: A 60-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident after a government bus rammed into his scooter from behind at Jakribettu on April 14.
The victim has been identified as Dombayya Moolya, a resident of Bhandaribettu. He had been working as a manager at BC Road Kulala Community Hall.
According to the eyewitnesses, Dombayya was heading towards BC Road on the Bantwal bypass road from Jakribettu when the bus coming from Dharmasthala collided with his scooter from behind. The impact of the collision was so severe that the scooter rider was killed on the spot.
Soon after the accident, the bus driver fled the scene.
Locals alleged that the accident occurred due to the bus driver’s reckless driving. However, the bus driver, who alighted from the bus immediately after the accident, fled the scene.
