Bantwal: Lorry hits motorbike; Rider escapes with injuries

Bantwal: The road widening works on the National highway are leading to more accidents, especially during the dark. In the wee hours of Sunday, a lorry crashed into a motorbike on the National Highway at Kalladka in Bantwal Taluk.

The bike rider miraculously escaped, with injuries, but the bike was completely wrecked, beyond recognition.

The Bantwal traffic police rushed to the spot and made arrangements to clear traffic.

The ongoing road widening works are creating hazards for the motorists, locals said. Accidents have been frequent as the heavy vehicles use high beam light during night hours, and motorbike riders fail to negotiate the space between the edge of the carriageway and the oncoming vehicles, they complained.
