Masked miscreants allegedly barged into a house after ringing on the doorbell, held the house occupants at knifepoint, and decamped with cash and gold valuing around Rs three lakhs.

The burglary took place at the residence of Florine Pinto at Anchikatte near Vagga on Thursday at around 6:30 am.

Reportedly the miscreants rang the doorbell of the house and when Florida opened it, they barged inside, brandished a knife, and took away keys to the cupboard.

Florida and her daughter Marina Pinto who was also present at home at the time of the incident tried to put up a fight but they were overpowered. Marina is said to have sustained injuries to her hand.

Notably, two days ago a juice machine was reported stolen from a nearby shop in the same area.

Police visited the house with a canine squad and fingerprint experts. An investigation is underway.
