Bantwal: Two held for assault on couple

Vittal police have arrested two persons accused of assaulting and molesting a woman and assaulting her husband on June 25 night in Kolnadu here.

The arrested are identified as Munna alias Sudarshan, a Manjeshwar resident and Dhan Raj alias Sudarshan Yane Munna, a Bantwal resident.

The complainant, Jayanth in his statement alleged that four bike-borne youths, identified as Munna alias Sudarshan, Sharath, Dhanu, and Uday intercepted the auto in which he was travelling with his wife Madhushree and child to a clinic for treatment.

The gang touched Madhushree in an inappropriate manner and when Jayanth objected they allegedly dragged him out of the auto, verbally abused and assaulted him.

The group stopped the assault when Jayanth’s wife and friend intervened but left the scene after threatening Jayanth with dire consequences.
