Bantwal: Water level rises close to danger level in Netravati River

Team Udayavani, Jul 30, 2024, 8:48 AM IST

Bantwal: Due to heavy rains in the Western Ghat region, the water level in the Netravati River has risen sharply, reaching 7.9 meters on the morning of Tuesday, July 30.

Some low-lying areas are already flooded, and if the water level continues to rise, the risk of a more serious flood is high.

Tahsildar’s Statement

Bantwal Tahsildar said that the river water has reached the roads in some areas. Many children in urban areas travel to school in autos and vans, but schools in rural areas and along the riverbanks, such as in Baltilla and Perne, are at serious risk.

Bantwal Tahsildar said that the CRP and STMC committees of at-risk schools have been instructed to grant holidays at their respective levels.
