Bantwal: Young man jumps into Netravati river; rescued

Bantwal: An incident of a man who attempted suicide by jumping from the old bridge in Panemangalur into the Netravathi river and later being rescued by a group of local swimmers occurred on the morning Monday, October 19.

The young man who attempted suicide was identified as Kumar from Hassan district. He was working as a driver in a private bus operating between Mangaluru and Bengaluru.

The young man is currently being treated at a hospital in Bantwal.

One of the rescuers, Mohammed, informed that the man jumped off the bridge wearing his khaki uniform at 8:15 am. He boarded a boat, rescued him and took him to the hospital in Bantwal town.

Two young men, Shihab and Swali, co-operated with Mohammed in the rescue.
