Bantwal: Youth drowns while swimming in Netravathi river

Bantwal: A young man drowned while swimming in the Netravathi river at Poithaje of Narikombu village on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Anush (20), son of Yogish Poojary a resident of Bikrodi of Narikombu village.

Anush, who was employed as a electrical maintenance worker at a private college in Moodabidri, had come home on Sunday morning on leave.

He was enjoying a swim with his friends and brother around 4 pm when the tragic incident occurred. Despite the efforts of those with him to rescue him, Anush couldn’t be saved from the river’s currents.

Later, the personnel from Bantwal Fire brigade managed to recovered Anush’s body from the river.

A case has been registered in Bantwala Town Police Station.
