During the Basava Jayanti celebrations organized by the All India Veerashaiva Lingayat Mahasabha, Veerashaiva-Lingayat Sanghas, and Federation of Basava Balagas of Mysuru, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the significance of Basavanna’s contributions in eradicating hierarchical systems and promoting a society where individuals sit alongside each other.
In his inaugural address, Siddaramaiah lauded the 12th-century philosopher and social reformer, Basavadi Sharan, for his tireless efforts in raising awareness among Shudra communities and implementing a democratic system in society.
The Chief Minister underscored the persistence of democratic and constitutional aspirations, even 76 years after India’s independence, echoing the concerns expressed by both Basavanna and Babasaheb Ambedkar. Siddaramaiah emphasized that societal inequalities still endure.
Siddaramaiah also highlighted Basavadi Sharan’s significant role in revolutionizing literature by creating works in the Kannada language, thereby making it accessible to the masses.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister assured that the demands presented by the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community during the program would be given substantial consideration in the upcoming budget.
