Baseless charges levelled against against me, says Bava

Mangaluru: Two days after being assaulted and accused of taking a bribe for issuing election ticket, former Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava said that the allegations made against him were baseless.

On Wednesday, October 30 Azeem, son of former city Mayor Gulzar Banu got into a scuffle with the Congress legislator over denial of a ticket to Gulzar Banu.

Clarifying on the incident Bava said that Gulzar Banu had contested the last election on a Congress ticket but lost as voters rejected her. “Banu has got Congress ticket on two occasions. Allegations that I have taken money from her to issue a ticket is totally baseless,” he said.

Further, he informed that the police have taken his statement regarding the incident and a case of assault has been registered.
