BBMP collects Rs 2.28 lakh as fine, from those without masks

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)  officials on Friday, June 19 collected Rs 2.28 lakh fine from 1,189 people for failing to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.

As per sources, BBMP officials slapped a fine of Rs 200 on 1,040 citizens for failing to wear a mask and fined 49 people for not following social-distancing norms.

BBMP health officials also inspected hotels and restaurants in Koramangala and fined four of them for not scientifically disposing of garbage.

They have been fined Rs 52,000, informed D Randeep, BBMP’s special commissioner (solid waste management).

Meanwhile, MCC Deputy Commissioner (Administration) Santhosh Kumar informed that for past two months MCC had collected Rs 54,800 as fines from those not wearing the mask.
