Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has now failed to complete another project on time. Earlier the BBMP had failed to meet the deadline to fill the potholes in and around the city.
The Karnataka High Court had ordered the BBMP to make Bengaluru garbage-free by October 31 but the BBMP failed to complete the project within the deadline. Hence, the civic body requested the Karnataka High Court to grant them for more days to clear the garbage, on Wednesday, October 31st.
The reason for failure
In its defence, the civic body told Chief justice Dinesh Maheshwari who was hearing the Public interest litigation that they were unable to complete the project within the deadline as people of the city woke up late and hence failed to dump the garbage in the BBMP garbage collection autos. As a result, the people disposed the garbage on the roadside while travelling.
The Chief justice Dinesh Maheshwari considered the civic body’s plea and ordered BBMP to clean the city by Diwali.
