Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has propelled an advanced door numbering system where each residential and business property in the city can be identified with a seven-digit number.

DiGi7 is the new project that puts an end to the long address system including the name of the road and territory and makes it simple for individuals to distinguish properties. The seven-digit number is alpha-numeric in character and finds properties on Google Maps. DiGi7 will help precisely find an address as the code is joined with latitudinal and longitudinal directions.

BBMP has separated the whole city into principle grids and further into smaller grids. The seven-digit number contains, in the accompanying request: a three-digit number demonstrating the primary grid, one letters  showing the sub-grid, two more letters in order to demonstrate the smaller grid and a last number to show the number of properties inside the smaller grid. Apartments with many houses will have sub-numbers in the end to specify the houses.

BBMP commissioner N Manjunath Prasad said “DiGi7 for the most part helps in finding properties easily. This is a move to bring property proprietors into the tax net. We can make a move against them on the off chance that they avoid taxes since we will have a database of the number of properties in the city,”

Starting at now, all BBMP properties under GIS-Enabled Property Tax Information System (GEPTIS) will have digital door numbers. There are 19 lakh such properties in the city.

Regions which are still under the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will get their numbers in the second stage, said Prasad.

It is an advanced distinguishing proof number which has GPS co-ordinates for the property. This is a lasting number and is assigned to a plot and does not change regardless of whether the proprietor of the property changes.

This framework replaces the customary arrangement of long addresses. Additionally, it is substantially less demanding to recognize properties. Owners can likewise show their numbers on their properties.

One can download the DiGi7 application on both Android and iPhone. One can likewise acquire the number by sending a SMS to 161. The request through SMS ought to be as per the following: BBMP PID send to 161. Individuals can share this number through WhatsApp, Gmail and on other online networking stages so it turns out to be anything but difficult to explore with the assistance of Google Maps.

Bangalore Development and Town Planning Minister K J George, Mayor R Sampath Raj and additional chief secretary, Urban Development Department, Mahendra Jain, were also present at the launch of the project on Thursday.
