BBMP Mayor hints at extension of lockdown in B’luru

Bengaluru: Amid rising number of coronavirus cases in the state capital, BBMP Mayor Goutham Kumar hinted at the possibility of extending the lockdown for a further weeks time.

Pointing out that people are wandering outside their houses aimlessly, he said that the government may extend the lockdown by a week to contain the spread of COVID-19.

It is gathered that the Mayor has written a letter to chief minister BS Yediyurappa seeking extension of lockdown by a week.

The week-long lockdown in Bengaluru urban and rural districts came into force from 14 July night.

Meanwhile on Thursday Bengaluru reported 2344 new cases. Of the total 25,288 positive cases till date 5,952 are discharged and 18,828 cases are active.
