BBMP officials thrash teenager for refusing COVID-19 test; video surfaces

Bengaluru: A teenager was beaten by Bengaluru civic body BBMP’s officials after he refused to undergo a COVID-19 test in Chickpet. The video is now going viral.
The video shows the two officials dragging the teenager and hitting him on the face and neck near the Nagarathpet testing booth.

BBMP Commissioner said the incident was regretted and an inquiry will be conducted.
“We regret the incident at Nagarathpet testing booth. There is no question of forceful testing. We condemn any physical altercation that has happened. Enquiry would be conducted to find out what led to this, who is responsible, and also to prevent any such recurrence,” he tweeted.
