BBMP proposes new rules for movie theatres, marriage halls, gyms to contain COVID-19 spread

Bengaluru: The BBMP has come forward with new measures to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus and has sent a proposal to the government on new restrictions at movie theatres and weddings.
Speaking at a news conference, BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad said that all facilities in apartments such as swimming pools, gyms, playing grounds and party hall within BBMP limits should be closed.
He also proposed to close the BBMP parks with gyms.
The proposal also intends to curtail the number of people attending movie theatres to 50 per cent of its seating capacity.
“Presently, only 200 people are allowed to attends weddings. The responsibility rests with the wedding organisers and the wedding hall management. Only 200 people will be allowed in indoor ceremony and 500 in an outdoor ceremony,” he said.
COVID-19 cases are on the rise in the city, with more cases being detected in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru West and South wards of BBMP.
