BBMP signs agreement with French company for Waste-to-energy plant

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has consented to an organization arrangement with a French organization to set up a waste-to-energy plant. The assention was marked in Delhi on Saturday during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to India.
The plant, which is probably going to come up at Chikkanagamangala, will have the ability to process 500 tons of waste a day, create 10 MW of energy, and is probably going to be dispatched within eight months.
BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad said the civic body would not need to pay any tipping charge.
“We will just need to send blended waste to the plant where it will be isolated. While wet waste will be composted, the dry waste will be utilized to generate power.” There will be an off-take concurrence with the Agriculture Department available to be purchased of manure at the rate of Rs. 2,500 a ton, in addition to government endowment of Rs. 800 a ton.
The BBMP had joined forces with an organization from the Netherlands for a waste-to-energy plant at Bellahalli.
