BBMP to conduct Khata Mela’ across Bengaluru

Bengaluru: In order to boost its revenue, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has decided to conduct a ‘Khata Mela’ in all its eight zones in Bengaluru.
BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta announced the plan at a review meeting on Monday with revenue officials.
Also, the BBMP has so far collected Rs 1,563.78 crore in property tax since April 2021. BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has expressed happiness over the collection.
Gupta said that the revenue officers should pay more attention to property tax collection and newly constructed buildings should be brought under the property tax net.
Special Commissioner (Revenue) Basavaraj instructed officials to issue demand notices to property tax defaulters and collect property tax promptly.
