BD, VHP to hold Dattamala campaign from Dec 12

Mangaluru: The Bajrang Dal (BD) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will hold Dattamaala campaign from December 12 to December 21, informed Sunil K R, south regional convenor of Bajrang Dal addressing the media on Dec 10th.

“On the occasion Datta Jayanthi, Dattamaala campaign will commence from December 12, as the devotees will wear maala (shawl). From December 20 till 22 various rituals and traditions will take place at Datta Peeta. On December 21 there will be a massive rally and public meeting at Chikmagalur and on December 22, the devotees will get a glimpse of the Datta Paduka,” said Sunil.

“In this campaign over 15,000 devotees will take part from the various parts of Mangaluru, Udupi, Puttur, Kodagu and Kasargod. Dattamaala campaign will commence from December 12 as various rituals will be held in Mangaluru Vishwashree office in Kadri where the devotees will wear malas,” he added.

“Through this campaign we are putting forward our demands like, the appointment of a Hindu priest for Datta Peeta to perform pooja, one permanent CEO for the Datta Peeta, NO opportunity to be given for Muslim activities to take place in Datta peeta, removal of Islam signs, symbols existing in Datta Peeta, announcement of Datta Peeta as holy shrine for Hindus by the government and protection of the same, investigation of missing hindu idols and articles that existed at Datta Peeta and allowing Hindu devotees and pontiffs to perform pooja whenever required,” he said.
