Beary movement pioneer Abdul Rahim T K no more

Mangaluru: Pioneer of Beary movement, renowned pioneer, poet, writer, translator Abdul Rahim T K (65) passed away at his home in the city. He was suffering from a short-term illness. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Abdul Rahim T K was born in Jokatte and brought up in the neighbourhood of Bajpe. He was the second son of Bawa Abdul Khader and Salma Abdul Khader couple of prestigious Kademane family.
Mr Rahim was the managing director of Teekays Corporate Concepts Pvt Ltd. and was an amateur poet and writer. He was also the founder president of Beary Sahitya Parishad.
He was the convener of the historical first Beary Sahitya Sammelana that was held in 1998 in the Town Hall of the city and was totally involved himself in the Beary language movement.
Being the president of the Parishad during the period of 1999-2000, Mr Rahim is credited with the success of the second and third Beary Sahitya Sammelana held at Neralakatte of Bantwal in 1999 and at Udupi in 2001 respectively.
Abdul Rahim is also credited of translating Paulo Coelho’s world renowned English novel ‘The alchemist’ to Kannada in the name of ‘Rasavadi’ after getting the official permission from the author.
Various magazines have published the ideological writings, review, stories and poems written by Abdul Rahim.
