Kundapura: The body of T.R. Yogeesh (23), a youth from Tiptur in Tumakuru district, who went missing after drowning at Beejadi Beach in Kundapura taluk of Udupi district last Wednesday, has been found June 25 on the shores of Karwar in Uttara Kannada district.
Yogeesh and his friend Sandeep had gone for an outing at a beach near Daras Mane, close to Koteshwar, around 6:45 PM on June 19.
Yogeesh entered the water, but heavy rainfall, strong sea waves, and high winds created dangerous conditions. As Yogeesh was being swept away by the waves, Sandeep tried to rescue him but was also pulled by the current. Local residents managed to save Sandeep, but Yogeesh disappeared into the sea.
Upon learning of the incident, Kundapura Circle Inspector Nandakumar, City Station SI Prasad Kumar, and police personnel along with coastal guards visited the scene and initiated a search operation.
However, the search had to be halted due to nightfall. Subsequent efforts over the next few days failed to locate Yogeesh’s body.
On the seventh day after the incident, Yogeesh’s body was discovered on the shores of Karwar in Uttara Kannada district.
