Belagavi: As colleges reopened for physical classes in the state, the state government made it compulsory for staff members to undergo Covid tests.
In Belagavi district, six staff members have tested positive for Covid-19. The health department had collected a total 2,027 swab samples of teaching and non-teaching staff over a period of three days, the results of which began arriving from Friday.
A total of six persons, from three colleges in the district, tested positive for the infection. On Friday, reports of 250 samples were received while others are awaited.
After a gap of nearly eight months, the government reopened degree colleges for undergraduate and postgraduate courses from November 17 onwards. The students’ attendance in colleges however shows their reluctance to attend offline classes for fear of infection.
