Belagavi: BJP state president BY Vijayendra criticized the Karnataka government for its alleged negligence in the rising deaths of mothers and newborns.
Speaking during his visit to the Belagavi District Hospital on Monday, December 9, Vijayendra expressed concern over the situation and vowed to raise the issue in the Assembly.
“We are here to ascertain the facts, not for political reasons. Today, the poor are being wronged as mothers and infants lose their lives. This matter deserves immediate attention in the Assembly,” he said.
He accused the ministers responsible for health, medical education, and district administration of indifference toward these deaths and urged the government to act promptly to prevent further loss of life.
Opposition leader blames Congress government
Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, alleged that the Congress government’s negligence has led to this tragic situation.
“Hospitals are turning into mortuaries. The atmosphere across the state is one of distress regarding maternal and infant deaths. We are witnessing a dire failure of the healthcare system,” Narayanaswamy said.
He further accused the Congress government of focusing on corruption rather than addressing critical issues in healthcare. “Substandard medicines procured due to corrupt practices have caused several such tragedies,” he alleged, emphasizing the lack of proper oversight in hospitals.
Both leaders called for immediate action to address the healthcare crisis and hold those responsible accountable.
