Belagavi: Discarded fetuses had congenital deformities, says medical report

Belagavi: Of the seven fetuses found from a gutter here, six were male and had congenital developmental abnormalities, a report by medical experts has claimed. This has refuted the theory of female foeticide proposed by some in the case.

According to sources, an attempt was made to preserve the fetuses using formalin, which is a commonly used preservative for storing biological specimens.

Nonetheless, a comprehensive investigation has been ordered about how the embryos ended up in the gutter, District Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said.

As many as 7 embryos were found floating in five boxes in an open drain near Mudalgi town bus stop on Wednesday. The locals informed the police, after which the fetuses were taken out of the ditch and taken to the local hospital.
