Belagavi: A massive landslide at a tunnel near Dudhsagar waterfall cut off the rail connectivity to Goa from Belagavi.
The landslide occurred on Tuesday night at a railway section near Castle Rock on the Belagavi-Goa route due to the heavy rains that continue to pound the region. This hill collapse happened in the third tunnel near Doodhasagar Falls. Slushy mud along with other debris has fallen onto the railway tracks.
As a result, the Nizamuddin Express, which was moving from Goa to Delhi via Belagavi, was diverted via Mumbai on Tuesday night.
Trains to and from Goa have been temporarily canceled.
The Sunday night train from Delhi to Goa via Miraj was stopped at Belagavi, from where the passengers were sent to Goa in 16 buses on Wednesday morning. Trains are currently only running up to Castle Rock.
