Belagavi: Law Minister H.K. Patil criticized former Chief Minister and MP Jagadish Shettar for his remarks on the Gandhi Bharat program, calling them “unfortunate.”

Speaking in Belagavi, Patil stated, “We are utilizing government funds for the Gandhi Bharat program, which celebrates Gandhi’s ideals. If Shettar considers this a waste, it reflects his dismissive stance towards Gandhi.”

Highlighting the ideological divide, Patil said, “The nation stands between two visions: Gandhi’s Bharat and Godse’s Bharat. While we celebrate Gandhi Bharat with pride, Shettar’s comments strike a discordant note.”

He further questioned the motives behind supporting narratives that justify Gandhi’s assassination.

Patil clarified that the unveiling of the Gandhi statue at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha is a government event, and all parties have been invited to participate, underscoring its inclusive nature.
