The middle-aged man, who allegedly chopped off the nose of an Anganwadi worker in a fit of anger, was arrested on Thursday, police said.

The accused, Kalyani Jyotiba More (44), was arrested by Kakati Police and produced before the court.

According to police, the incident occurred on Tuesday at Basurte village in Belagavi district on the pretext that the victim’s children plucked flowers from the accused’s garden the previous day.

The accused Kalyani More picked up a fight with the worker Sugandha More (50) and chopped off her nose. A profusely bleeding Sugandha was admitted to a hospital where her condition is said to be critical.
