Belagavi: Police Sub-Inspector dies in mishap, saves dog’s life

Belagavi: In a tragic incident a Police Sub-Inspector who was on his way to enforce lockdown in effect for preventing the spread of COVID-19 died after his bike skid at Yellur road in Vadgaon suburb here on Saturday while he was trying to save a street dog.

The deceased has been identified as Manohar Ganachari (59) resident of Yellur road in Vadgaon attached to Khade Bazaar police station.

The incident took place when he was on his way to enforce lockdown at about 6.30 am. Ganachari saw a dog crossing the road and in an attempt to save the dog’s life his bike skid and he suffered severe injuries and died.

A case with this regard has been registered with the Belagavi Traffic South police.
