Belagavi: While incidents of molestations cases reported from India’s IT capital are still fresh, in yet another shocker from Belagavi, about 500 kilometers from Bengaluru, a teacher was accused of raping his student with help from his wife.
Aparna (name changed) stayed at a paying guest accommodation at the residence of the accused teacher, Anwar Hussain Hajarat Ali Nadaf (39) in Nipani; he was a teacher in a local English Medium School from the past several years. He resided with his wife Ruksana (28) in the house.
Aparna hailed from Gokak and was sent to stay with the teacher after her father’s death. Aparna was made to stay in the teacher’s PG till she finished her schooling as both families knew each other.
A few weeks after Aparna began staying at the PG, Nadaf, supported by his wife, allegedly began molesting her. He also later allegedly raped her and threatened her not to reveal the incident to anyone.
Recently, Aparna went home during vacation and when it was time for her to return, she refused to go saying she did not want to continue studies. But when her grandfather insisted, she agreed but said that she would not stay at Nadaf’s house.
Aparna’s grandfather met the school Principal so that she could advise her. It was then that the incident came to light. Aparna told the Principal that Nadaf was raping and molesting her from the past six months.
The police were informed and charges of rape and molesting a minor were booked against Nadaf; he and his wife were later remanded to judicial custody by a local court.
