Below normal rains in Karnataka for next 20 days: IMD

Bengaluru: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that for another 20 days from now the rains in Karnataka will be lesser than usual.

A. Prasad, Scientist, Meteorological Centre, IMD Bengaluru said, “From September 15 to 30 the rains in the Karnataka state will be lesser than usual. Normally, as per the monsoon pattern of the state, on average, we observe 71 cm of rain every year. But this time around, from July 1 to September 7 the state has received 98 cm of rain, which is 39 percent more than usual”.

“For next 20 days, except the western areas of the coastal region, rest of the areas will observe lesser than usual showers”, he added.
