Beltangady: A 2.5-year-old girl, who had gone missing yesterday, was found dead in a rivulet near their residence here on Wednesday.

The toddler’s parents Suchitra and Subhash are said to be residing at the former’s maternal house.

On the day of the incident, Suchitra alongwith her mother had gone to a nearby farm and had left the child with her grandfather. When they returned they found the child missing.

Suspecting that the child might have ventured towards the nearby rivulet, locals, fire service personnel and diving experts conducted a search here till late night yesterday. However, the mortal remains of the child were found in the rivulet on the morning of Wednesday.
