Beltangady: Beltangady police on January 24 arrested six people for allegedly assaulting the staff of a hotel owned by a local BJP leader.
Ajit Kumar, Arun Kumar, Nitish, Ashish Kumar, Parameshwar, and Naveen are among the arrested.
The assault took place at Empire hotel which is owned by a leader of the Ujire BJP minority cell.
Reports state that the accused allegedly waited for Mohammed Altaf, who is a staff at the hotel. Altaf was returning to the hotel after delivering a parcel when the accused pounced on him.
Altaf who managed to escape ran towards the hotel.
Reports allegedly state that the accused followed Altaf to the hotel where they assaulted him.
Nandakumar, Sub-inspector, and other personnel rushed to the spot, following which they took necessary precautionary measures.
It was also found that the gang had visited the hotel a week ago and had quarreled with the staff. Apparently, this attack was a result of that incident.
Beltangady police have registered a case against 15 people, out of which only six have been arrested so far.
