Belthangady: 25-year-old man killed, another injured in bike-bus collision

Belthangady: A young man lost his life while another was seriously injured in a collision between a bus and a bike near Koyyur Cross at Layila village here on the evening of December 20.

The deceased has been identified as Vijay (25) Navoor Malebavu in Bantwal Taluk. The injured youth, identified as Shailesh (25), a resident of Bambila village of Kadabettu in Bantwal taluk, is receiving treatment at a hospital.

Both of them were riding on a motorbike toward their home in Bantwal when the bus knocked them down. Due to the force of the impact, Vijay was killed on the spot. The motorbike was completely wrecked.

Police rushed to the spot and cleared the traffic with the help of locals. The bus involved in the crash has been impounded and a case has been registered at the Belthangady Traffic police station.

Vijay was employed at a private firm in Ujire and was the pillar of support for his family. He had lost his father very early. He is survived by his mother and younger sister.
