Belthangady: Six persons, including two children, were injured when a car traveling from Kottigehara to Belthangady rammed into a road embankment at Pandikkatte Krishnanagar at Charmadi on Friday.
All of the occupants in the car are said to be relatives. The accident occurred near an embankment located off the end of CharmadiGhat Road.
Vinod Kumar D (41) and Anasuya (72) of Sringeri were seriously injured in the incident. They have been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.
The other injured have been identified as Sharmila (41) and Pranavasthita (11) of Sagar, and Sindhu (37) and Shravani (10) of Sringeri. They have been taken to a private hospital in Ujire.
Locals rushed to the aid of the injured and took them to a private hospital in Kakkinje. After receiving first aid, the injured were referred to hospitals in Mangaluru and Ujire for further medical treatment.
Belthangady traffic police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
