Belthangady: Bridge collapse causes ‘lock in’ fears among villagers

Mangaluru: A bridge near the Western Ghats and Kudremukh National Park collapsed on Wednesday, May 27.
The bridge connected a hamlet near the ghats to the Belthangady-Karkala Road. The residents of the hamlet fear that with the advent of the monsoon soon they might be marooned without any alternative mode of connectivity.
The bridge was inspected by officials from the district administration who announced that a new bridge will be built in however later only the old bridge was repaired, said the residents.
