Belthangady: Dead bodies of six monkeys were found on the morning of March 12 in the reserve forest off Kayarthodi road in Mundaje village on National Highway 73.
The bodies were first seen by pedestrians early in the morning lying on the roadside. Immediately, the forest department, the health department and the panchayat were informed about it.
The incident has caused panic among locals.
The bodies of 5 monkeys are lying together while that of a monkey cub is lying about 30 metres away from the rest.
Recently, two dead bodies of monkeys were found near Belalu road. Their samples were sent to the laboratory for testing.
