Belthangady: Elderly woman killed; valuables stolen

‎Belthangady:‎‎ An elderly woman was found beaten to death at her home in an apparent case of robbery in broad daylight here on Saturday afternoon.

Akku (85), was found in a pool of blood at her home in Kerekodi Belalu village here. Cash and ornaments were found to be stolen.

Akku lived with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. She was alone at the house during the time of the crime.

The crime came to light when her granddaughter came home from school in the afternoon. As she could not find her anywhere in the house, she searched nearby and found her lying unconscious in the shed near the house. She informed her parents about the incident. it was later confirmed that the elderly woman had died on the spot.

It is suspected the attack took place for stealing valuables from the house. The gold earrings Akku was wearing and cash in the house were found to be missing.

Dharmasthala police have registered a case and have taken up the investigation.
