An elderly woman who went missing on the evening of February 28 in the village of Donthila near Hosamajalu in Kaukradi was found three days later in a forested area. The incident came to light belatedly.

Aisamma (80),  who reportedly suffers from a mild mental health condition, was known to visit her neighbors every day. She had been to her neighbor’s house on the evening of February 28 and did not return home that night. Her concerned son, Muhammad, searched for her at neighboring houses but she was nowhere to be found.

Despite extensive searching by Muhammad and local youths, Aisamma remained missing for three days.

Found in Erthila Sanctuary

However, on the morning of March 3, a man named Shiju who was delivering milk to the Hosamjalu Milk Society, found Aisamma wandering in the Erthila Sanctuary near Mannagundi, around 4 kilometers from her home. After being discovered, she was safely returned to her family.

During her time in the forest, Aisamma survived by eating leaves that were available to her.

Her family is relieved that she was able to return home safely after spending two nights and three days in the forest. Muhammad expressed his gratitude for the support received from the local community during the search, and he is glad that his mother is now safe and sound.
