Belthangady: House gutted in fire

Belthangady: A house in Elaneeru, Malavantige village was completely destroyed in a fire caused by a short circuit, resulting in losses exceeding Rs 30 lakh.

The incident occurred at the residence of Prashanth Y.R., where the fire consumed the entire house. Items lost in the blaze include arecanuts worth Rs 2 lakh, coffee beans valued at Rs 1 lakh, black pepper worth Rs 50,000, clothing, utensils, and important documents.

Fortunately, the residents were at a neighbor’s house during the incident, avoiding any casualties. The family is now left homeless and is temporarily staying with a relative. Officials, including the Tahsildar, Village Accountant, and Panchayat Development Officer (PDO), have been informed.

Malavantige Gram Panchayat President Prakash Jain and MESCOM Assistant Engineer Chetan visited the site to assess the damage.
