Belthangady: Man assaults cop to evade arrest

Belthangady: A police team out to nab an accused was allegedly assaulted by the accused and his aides at Golikatte of Pilya village in Beltangady on April 8.
It is said that the Shankaranarayana police personnel went to arrest a man named Abdul Lathif at Golikatte. Lathif tried to resist the arrest and began punching the cops. He then bit the index finger of a police constable. His aides too assaulted the cops and pelted stones at them.
However, later the police officials were successful in arresting Lathif. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
