Belthangady: Man believed to be dead returns home alive

Belthangady: In a shocking incident, an elderly man whose body was found in a pond and cremated by the family members returns home alive. The strange incident took place at Garady village, Belthangady Taluk.

It is said that Srinivas Devadiga (60) went missing on January  26 and his family members had filed a complaint in the police station

On February 3, Police found a decomposed body of a man in the Kullunja pond in Odilnala village. The family members believed it to be the body of Srinivas and cremated it

However, after the funeral, family members got information that Srinivas Devadiga was alive and is in Mangalore. He was then brought back home. He is said to have stayed in his brother’s house

It is said that Srinivas is an alcoholic and has the habit of leaving home without any information. As a body was found in the pond, family members believed that he might have accidentally fallen in the pond.

Police officials are now trying to find out the actual identity of the body found in the pond
