Belthangady: Man ends life after wife’s suicide

Belthangady: A 56-year-old man hanged himself at his wife’s funeral on Sunday, July 18 after she reportedly died by suicide in Mudipire, Machina village of Belthangady Taluk.

It is said that Chandravathi (49), wife of Shivappa Gowda (56) ended her life on Saturday.

She had hanged herself from a cashew tree near her house as she was worried about the liquor addiction of her husband. She was also upset because she could not conceive.

On Sunday morning, Shivappa Gowda was also found hanging from the shamiana rod at his wife’s funeral.

A report has been filed at Punjalkatte police station.
