Belthangady: Miscreants break into house; steal ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh

Belthangady: Miscreants broke into a house at Deraje in Indabettu in the taluk on Sunday, and made away with  40 sovereigns of gold ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh.

The house that was burgled belonged to Muhammed (43), a farmer and also an areca nut trader from Deraje House.

Muhammed along with his wife and three children left home on October 31 morning to attend an engagement ceremony.

The family members returned home after the function in the evening and found that their house had been burgled.

Apart from the gold, thieves also stole Rs 5,200 cash from a bag in the locker.

A case has been registered and further investigations are underway.
