Belthangady: Tributes Pour in for K Vasantha Bangera in his hometown

Belthangadi: Congress leader, five-time MLA of Belthangadi K. Vasantha Bangera (79), who was recognized as an influential leader in Dakshina Kannada district, died of liver problem on May 8 at 4 pm at a private hospital in Bangalore. His body arrived at his Halekote residence at 3.30 am today.
As the mortal body arrived at the home, arrangements were made for the family to pay their last respects at home. Some time was allowed to pay tribute to his close fan base.
MLA Harish Poonja paid his last respects to Bangera. At this time, the KPCC General Secretary was present at the place and assisted in making additional arrangements for the final tribute.
His mortal remains were taken in a procession from his Halekote house to the Belthangadi Taluk Stadium for public darshan at 9 am.
Bangera’s body has been kept at the Taluk stadium for public viewing and all preparations have been made since last night.
CM, DCM likely to participate
In the afternoon, the body will be taken out in a procession and cremated with full government honors at Kede Hosamane of Kuvettu village. It is learned that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakunar, Ministers, MLAs, and their close circle will attend.
Born on January 15, 1946, as the first son of Kede Subba Pujari-Devaki couple, his health had deteriorated severely recently and he was being treated at a hospital in Bangalore. He breathed his last after the treatment failed.
