Belthangady boy dies due to electric shock while setting up Christmas decorations

Belthangady: A 14-year-old boy died of electrocution while setting up Christmas decorations on Thursday, December 19.
The deceased is identified Stephen D’Souza, son of the late Stanley D’Souza.
Stephen was electrocuted to death when he was setting up lights in anticipation of Santa Claus’ arrival at his home near Perodittayana Katte school.
Having lost his parents a few years ago, Stephen lived with his grandmother and uncle. The incident occurred when only his grandmother was home. His uncle later arrived and disconnected the power supply, narrowly escaping harm.
MESCOM officials visited the site to investigate the accident.
