Bengaluru: Public Sector Undertaking Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML) had lost a Rs 1,600-crore-contract to a Chinese firm to manufacture metro coaches. Now, amid the tension between India-China, BEML is ready to reduce the bidding price
Earlier, China-based CRRC Nanjin Puzhen Co Ltd emerged as the lowest b bidder for manufacturing 216 Metro coaches including 90 CBTC-complaint for Metro coaches.
Chinese firm quoted the price of Rs 1,578 which was Rs 100 crore lesser than BMRCL’s estimates.
However, BEML’s offer to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) for re-negotiating the tender comes at a time when India is considering minimising business ties with China.
