A 25-year-old woman from Bengaluru lost Rs 8.2 lakh to an astrologer who promised to use black magic to reconcile her with her ex-boyfriend and gain her parents’ support.
Disturbed by her recent breakup and facing personal problems, the woman had sought help online and found astrologer, Ahmed along with associates Abdul and Liyakhatulla.
Ahmed, initially asked for Rs 501 to free her from supposed black magic. After the woman transferred the initial amount digitally, Ahmed asked for photos and later proposed Rs 2.4 lakh to perform black magic on her ex-boyfriend and parents. Cash payments were made on December 22. Ahmed persisted, demanding an additional Rs 1.7 lakh, which Rahil paid.
Suspecting foul play, Rahil refused further payments, leading to abuse and threats from Ahmed. Eventually, she paid a total of Rs 4.1 lakh in digital transactions until January 10.
Upon learning of the situation, the woman’s parents encouraged her to report the incident to Jalahalli police. An FIR was filed, and during the investigation, it was discovered that the money went to Ahmed’s associate Liyakhatulla’s account.
Ahmed is now unreachable as his mobile is switched off. Further inquiries are ongoing.
