Bengaluru: A complaint has been filed after three persons allegedly cheated two farmers of Rs 11 lakh by selling them 1 kg of fake gold coins in Bengaluru.

As per the complaint filed by  N Galappa (50), a resident of Siresandra village, two of the accused had approached the farmers claiming to be daily-wage workers who had found 4 kg of gold coins while digging.

The accused showed them the gold coins and offered them 1 Kg at Rs 11 lakh and they went to a nearby shop where a goldsmith confirmed that the gold coins were genuine.

Galappa said that he collected Rs 7 lakh by guaranteeing gold of family members and his friend Rajanna gave away his savings that he wanted to invest in agriculture.

They were later called to a bus terminal where another person joined and they went to Tulasi park. There the accused gave the farmers fake gold coins and took the cash from them.

Later, when Galappa went to a goldsmith to check the gold coins, they realized that they were fake.

A case has been registered.
