Bengaluru: 5-year-old killed after being knocked down by car

The teenager, seated in the driver's seat, accidentally pressed the accelerator

A 5-year-old child died after being knocked down by a car on Old Airport Road, Murugeshpalya Road, Bengaluru on Sunday, May 12.

The deceased has been identified as Aarav.

The accident unfolded around 10:30 am when a 15-year-old boy was helping his father wash their car. The teenager, seated in the driver’s seat, accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the vehicle to lurch forward.

Tragically, Aarav, who was playing nearby, was struck by the car and died on the spot due to the impact.

The incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera.

The car moved at high speed and reportedly collided with many other vehicles. Reportedly, another child also sustained injuries.

Jeevan Bhimanagar police have taken up the investigation and have detained the teenager.
