Bengaluru: A 6-year-old boy was crushed under the wheels of a goods vehicle in the Vinobhanagar area on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Ashwant, son of Sasikumar, a resident of Kolageri in KHB Colony.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 11 am on Siddaiah Road, near the CT Market traffic police station.

Police said Ashwanth was squatting behind the goods vehicle by the side of Siddaiah Road. Unaware of the boy’s presence, the vehicle reversed and ran over him. The boy breathed his last due to injuries sustained.

Preliminary investigations by the traffic police suggest that the driver of the cargo transport vehicle was at fault due to negligence. Consequently, the vehicle has been impounded, and the driver has been detained for questioning.

A case has been registered at the CT Market Traffic Police Station.
